The Dolomites: a pearl to discover |
On June 26th, 2009 the committee of the UNESCO World Heritage has welcomed the Dolomites in the register of the world heritage by awarding them the highest recognition as natural site. The enchanted world of the Dolomites has been classified as an unique place on the world for the beauty of its landscape and because of its importance in terms of geomorphology and geology. |
Nine mountain groups of the Dolomites have been inserted in the register of the World Heritage. The south-tyrolean natural parks which are part of the world heritage are the "Dolomites of Sexten", "Fanes-Sennes-Braies", "Puez-Odle", "Sciliar-Catinaccio", the "Latemar-Group" and the "Bletterbach". A good unique in the world and of great importance not only for Italy but for all humanity. A land where nature can still dictate its own principles. |
